The Ennis ISD Transportation Department is responsible for setting bus routes and schedules. The department is responsible for setting bus routes and schedules. The department offers transportation to and from school and to extra-curricular activities for all EISD students. Please feel free to call 972-872-7354 with any questions regarding your child's transportation.
Safety
-
The primary concern of the Transportation Department is student safety. The most dangerous time for students is before and/or after they are on the bus. The Transportation Department considers the environment and age of the students when placing bus stops. We attempt to place every bus stop at a location with reasonable safety assurances for students. Parents must assume the responsibility for their students traveling back and forth from home to the stop.
Eligibility
-
The Texas Education Agency, along with our local Board of Trustees, provides the opportunity for bus transportation for eligible students. The guidelines from the State are very rigid and must be followed. Rider eligibility is determined by the State as follows: "Transportation is only for those students who reside two or more miles from their assigned campus of regular attendance, measured by the shortest traveled route used by the public (not the way the bus may travel)." The two-mile marker may fall between two neighbors located on the same street. Walking into the eligible area to catch the bus is strictly prohibited. The prohibition will be enforced.
Lost & Found
-
If your student has lost or found an item on the bus please have them inform their bus driver. Drivers are asked to maintain a log of any items that are lost or found on their bus. Parents may also call the Transportation office at 972-872-7354.
