Candace Bennett, Principal - Miller Intermediate

I am honored to be the principal of Dorie Miller Intermediate. This is the beginning of my twenty-sixth year in education, with twenty of those years in Ennis ISD. I spent 18 years in the classroom teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. After leaving the classroom, I was an instructional coach and assistant principal.

I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I received my Master of Education in Teacher Leadership and my Principal Certification from Lamar University.

My husband, Jim, and I are the proud parents of three children. Our oldest son, Brody, is a graduate of Ennis High School and our twins, Beau and Lainie, currently attend Ennis High School.

Since my first year of teaching, I have had a sign in my room that truly sums up my philosophy in education. "You have to reach the HEART before you can reach the HEAD!" Once a student feels you care about them, they will work hard, grow, and believe in their dreams. Building relationships with students and creating a partnership with the students’ families will enhance the students’ learning. Together the students’ family and school can help them develop to their fullest potential and become productive citizens in their community.
